Every row is computed from the published BMI cut-points, not copied from a table. Enter your height to find your row, or open the BMI calculator to see where a specific weight lands.
How the chart is calculated
The chart has one input: the BMI band that WHO and the CDC publish as healthy weight, 18.5 to under 25. For each height, the height in metres is squared and multiplied by 18.5 for the lower bound and 24.9 for the upper bound. At 170 cm that is 1.7 × 1.7 = 2.89, giving 53.5 kg to 72 kg. Pounds are converted at 0.45359237 kg per pound and rounded to the nearest pound.
Nothing in the table is copied from another chart, so it cannot disagree with the calculator: both run the same function on the same cut-points.
Reading the chart
Find your height in the first column, or type it in the box above the table and the nearest row is highlighted. The kg and lb columns show the weights at which BMI equals 18.5 and 24.9 for that height. Weights below the first number give a BMI under 18.5; weights above the second give a BMI of 25 or more.
The rows step every 2 cm. Between two rows, the range moves by roughly 0.6 to 0.7 kg per centimetre of height, so reading the nearer row is close; the box above gives the exact range for any height.
Men, women and age
There is one chart because the adult BMI cut-points are the same for men and women. Both sources below apply them to adults aged 20 and over without distinction by sex. Charts that show different ranges for men and women are built on other methods, such as frame size or body-fat estimates, and are not BMI charts.
The cut-points do not apply to children and teenagers. For them, BMI is read against growth references for age and sex, which this chart does not include.
Using the chart with the calculator
The chart answers "what weights land in the band for my height". To see where one specific weight falls, and the number itself, use the BMI calculator. To see height and weight as a figure rather than a number, the Body Visualizer draws a body from the same two measurements. Neither page interprets the result: BMI is a screening number, not a measure of health.

Frequently asked questions
How is the height–weight chart calculated?
Each row takes a height in metres, squares it, and multiplies by 18.5 and 24.9, the lower and upper bounds of the band WHO and the CDC publish as healthy weight. The result is shown in kilograms and pounds.
Why is there no separate chart for men and women?
The adult BMI cut-points published by WHO and the CDC are the same for men and women, so the weight range for a given height is the same too. Charts that differ by sex use other methods and are not BMI charts.
What if my height is between two rows?
The chart steps every 2 cm. Enter your exact height in the box above the chart and the nearest row is highlighted, or use the BMI calculator, which works from your exact height.
Is the range a recommendation?
No. It is the arithmetic of the published cut-points and nothing more. BMI does not measure body fat or health, and this page does not interpret where you fall or suggest a target.
Can I use the chart in feet, inches and pounds?
Yes. Heights are shown in centimetres and feet and inches, and weights in kilograms and pounds, converted exactly and rounded for display.
